Mr. Ian Hasegawa, Esq., MBA earned his MBA at the Thunderbird School of Global Management. Following several years in the international division of Charles Schwab & Co., Ian refocused on international trade and logistics by working with UPS in international business development. At UPS, Ian consulted with importers and exporters to implement process improvement and compliance with trade laws. It was during this time that Ian began earning his law degree.
Before establishing his own practice, Ian worked for a prominent Asset Protection firm Lodmell & Lodmell, and prior to that practiced law in a full service estate planning and probate firm in Arizona helping clients protect their assets and plan for their loved ones. Ian’s experience with complex probates, conservatorships, estate planning, trust administration, and business entity formation. His diverse background all contribute to his ability to help clients create the best Estate Planning, Asset Protection planning, and Small Business Planning available. Ian brings a wealth of legal, business and financial experience to the table when assisting his clients. He is a member of the National Association of Asian American Professionals and local and national Asian Bar Associations.
Ian was born in Calgary, Alberta Canada and is now a naturalized US citizen living in the Phoenix area, together with his wife Michelle and son. Michelle owns and runs her own local massage therapy and spa establishment in the NW Valley.
Mr. Hasegawa earned his bachelor’s degree in International Relations and Spanish at Brigham Young University in Provo Utah. During his undergraduate years, Mr. Hasegawa spent over two years living in Chile both as a student and as a volunteer for a not-for-profit organization. Ian maintains his Spanish language proficiency and can read, write, and speak Spanish. Following his undergraduate studies, Mr. Hasegawa came to Arizona to pursue his MBA at the Thunderbird School of Global Management. As part of his international business education, Ian travelled to South America to perform financial and market analyses for a Fortune 100 medical equipment manufacturer.
Upon completing his MBA in International Management, Ian went to work for the international division of Charles Schwab & Co. serving overseas retail customers located primarily in Latin America and Spain. Later Mr. Hasegawa was selected to join a small team that served international institutional clients where Ian acted as a broker and as a licensed equity trader, assisting international hedge funds, banks, and mutual fund companies make and manage investments for their respective clients. Ian held series 7, 63, and 55 licenses.
Following several years at Charles Schwab, Mr. Hasegawa decided to refocus his career on international trade and logistics and went to work for UPS in international business development. In this position, Mr. Hasegawa became a consultant importers and exporters using all modes of transportation. Mr. Hasegawa helped business implement process improvement and compliance with trade laws. It was during this time that Ian began earning his law degree in the evenings at Phoenix School of Law while working full time during the day. While completing his legal studies, Mr. Hasegawa worked for an international transportation and logistics company as a project manager and regional sales manager. Here, Ian assisted business development for the ocean container division, worked on several international expansion projects, helped open port operations at a new location in California, developed and implemented custom operational plans for marquee clients, and trained the domestic sales force on new international services.
During law school, Mr. Hasegawa was a participant of the mediation clinic, and later a student supervisor of the clinic where he mediated several community disputes referred by the Phoenix prosecutors office. He has completed a 40 hour mediation training course and received additional training to become a volunteer mediator for the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission. At the EEOC, Ian has volunteered his time to mediate discrimination claims between federal workers and their employing agency.
Mr. Hasegawa brings a wealth of business and financial experience to the table when assisting his clients. He is always focused on his client’s needs and is zealous in his efforts to resolve their problems and concerns. Ian is a member of the National Association of Asian American Professionals. He is licensed to practice law in Arizona. His other interests involve participating in adventure races, mountain biking, and riding off-road motorcycles with his son.
